What makes Rumur different than every other video-on-demand site?

Rumur offers motion picture titles in any format you choose: streaming flash, quicktime downloads or DVD video. The service works for Mac and Windows (linux on the way). Do the titles have DRM? There is no Digital Rights Management so you can share or play your titles on any compatible device. You have the same rights as if you bought a physical DVD in stores. Instead of DRM, we have a sophisticated TMS (Trust Management System). We know who buys which titles, and if we find out that you have been copying or selling them without permission we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. We have really good lawyers and they like to work on contingency.


What are the system requirements?

• Mac OSX 10.4 or higher
• PC Windows XP / Vista
• 1gig of RAM
• Broadband / DSL Internet
• Flash for streaming (download latest version of Flash)
• Quicktime for downloading (download the latest version of Quicktime)
• DVD-R Writer for burning (here, you can buy a DVD-R Writer if you don't have one)


What's the difference between Stream, Download and Burn?

Stream allows you to rent titles in hi-resolution Flash video within your browser instantly for up to 24hours after purchase.
Downloaded titles are delivered as hi-resolution Quicktime video direct to your desktop.
Burn titles are hi-resolution DVD files that are downloaded and burned to your computer. You must have a DVD-R writer attached to your computer to burn titles.


Are all titles available in every format?

No. Although, most are available in every format, some titles are only available in select formats for various legal rights reasons.


How long does it take to start watching?

Streaming titles will start immediately.
Downloaded titles will start playing a few seconds after download begins, and take between a few minutes (for music videos) to an hour (for feature films) to fully download.*
Burn titles take a few minutes (for music videos) and up to a couple hours (for feature films) to download and burn.**

How can I stream a title?

Pick your title. Select STREAM. Pay by credit card and start streaming Flash video immediately.


How can I download a title?

Pick your title. Select DOWNLOAD. Pay by credit card and start downloading Quicktime file.


How do I burn a DVD of a title?

Pick your title. Select BURN. Pay by credit card. First time users will need to download the Rumur Video Application to their desktop. Launch Rumur Video. Login with your username and password. Insert a blank DVD-R into your burner and select start.

How do I signup for an account?

Rumur has developed a simple method for Producers to self-publish and manage their titles. Right now we are only accepting Producers by invitation. If you are a rights holder and are interested in distributing your title via the Rumur platform then email us at info@rumur.com. Tell us about yourself and your work and we'll set you up with an account.

Rumur is hosted on a super-fast Content Delivery Network provided by Bit Gravity. They are an industry leader at delivering large, hi-quality video files efficiently across the Internet. Producer's decide the price, enter the data and upload media.


When do I get paid?

Producers can choose to get paid via electronic funds transfer after the sale of each title or via check once a month. Producers will also be able to track sales in real time instantly via their account interface.


What are my rights?

Rumur distributes titles on a non-exclusive basis. Producers retain ownership of their titles.


How can I market my titles?

Each title is given its own unique URL and each page includes options for sharing titles via email, embed codes and popular social bookmarking services.


What do I have to loose?

Absolutely nothing. Producers can start making money by selling titles instantly and without exclusivity. Producers are free to sell their titles on other platforms as well.
